The majority of simple repairs such as replacing faulty washers, fill valves, flush valves and flush handles or buttons can be done within an hour. At Scott Findlay we'd expect this to cost in the region of £150 including materials.
Dripping taps are most often caused by faulty cartridges or washers, these can be specific to the tap and are not always easy to source, therefore in some cases it's more economical to replace the tap with a brand new one as this can usually be done in around an hour and the new tap will come with a full guarantee. We'll always give honest advice on the best option.
This can be down to work being done in the street. First check with neighbours and/or contact Scottish Water. If there is no common issue it's time to call a plumber to investigate; it could be a problem with valves or stopcocks. At the time of booking, it's helpful to let your plumber know if the problem is happening at all outlets (basin, sink and bath taps, plus shower), as if it's only at certain outlets this may indicate an issue with a specific tap or even a boiler fault.
This is normally down to a faulty flush valve or fill valve which will usually need replaced by a plumber.
